Through his long-standing residency in Planet 9, Cosmo Brown was able to establish himself as one of the new crop of dynamic drum and bass DJ's spawning from Los Angeles at the end of the last decade. Helping the Midnite Bombers promoters in their efforts to present consistently well produced drum and bass events, they developed a strong affinity for the energy that can only be created in a dancefloor blaring fast breakbeats and subsonic basslines.

The end of 2000 also saw the official end of the Midnite Bombers saga as the members of Planet 9 evolved into other endeavors. It was at this time that Cosmo was presented with the opportunity to start a label to use as an outlet for the music he and others were creating. Lush Recordings was thus born into the LA underground, and "Sterile Aesthetic" (Cosmo Brown's assumed moniker for his original productions) saw its first two singles hit the record shops.

Aligning himself with DJ's Phear and Kingpin as host of Medium Radio has renewed his inspiration to continue spreading the sounds of drum and bass. His residencies at Club Essence every last Friday of each month and Evolution on Saturday nights enable him to share his unique vision for a well-crafted DJ set with LA's underground.

"Being an artist is all. Being known as an artist is nothing."

It's been a while since this site's been updated. Since that time, the first single released by Cosmo Brown under his "Sterile Aesthetic" name has sold out. Following the success of that first one is LUSH-002: "Moods" and "Fuse". The new single has been well-recieved by the drum and bass community in Los Angeles and has gotten the following reviews:

URB Magazine for April/May 2001:
Sterile Aesthetic - Moods/Fuse - (Lush)
Los Angeles' own Cosmo Brown drops the second release on his freshly minted Lush imprint and the results are inspiring. Coming on smooth and silky before tweaking it out for the dancefloor, "Moods" sets a steady early morning pace before the flip-side delivers the horrific "Fuse" for those who like it a touch creepy. Opening with eerie synths and creatures growling in the shadows, the steady pump-and-bump of the beats gives way to the hard-driving tune proper as a solid b-line and wobbly stabs keep it grounded. Knowledge Magazine for April/May 2001:
Sterile Aesthetic "Moods/Fuse" - Lush Recordings (U.S.)
Second release for Los Angeles based Lush (see Sterile Aesthetic) creating a vibe once more. "Moods" comes in strong with tight rolling drums and killer b-line. Well planned effects and rattling hats drive it home. "Fuse" kicks off with a broody synth laden intro before some knockin' tech drums ride in. Things get cranked up a notch with a nice amen cut overlapping the original drums. The melody hangs throughout. Very solid release sure to blow up on the dancefloor. (S)
